“Can your parking lift operate safely at -35°C?”

The answer is yes, provided the lift is equipped with the appropriate low-temperature configuration.

Hydraulic parking lifts rely on hydraulic oil, electrical systems and hydraulic hoses to operate efficiently. In extremely cold weather, these components require special attention to ensure reliable performance throughout the winter.

At Syrison, we have supplied mechanical parking equipment worldwide since 2008. For customers installing parking lifts in cold climates, we offer an optional Low Temperature Package, allowing our outdoor parking lifts to operate reliably at temperatures down to -35°C.

Standard Operating Temperature

The standard operating temperature for Syrison hydraulic parking lifts is:

-20°C to +40°C

This configuration is suitable for most applications, including:

• Residential garages
• Underground parking garages
• Commercial buildings
• Indoor vehicle storage facilities
• Outdoor projects in moderate climates

However, if the equipment will be installed outdoors where winter temperatures regularly fall below -20°C, we recommend selecting our Low Temperature Package during production.

Why Cold Weather Matters

Extremely low temperatures affect every hydraulic system.

As temperatures decrease, hydraulic oil becomes thicker, making it more difficult for the hydraulic pump to circulate the oil. This increases the motor load and may reduce lifting speed.

Hydraulic hoses also become less flexible in freezing conditions, while ordinary electrical cables become harder and more brittle after long periods of exposure to snow and ice.

In addition, rapid temperature changes between day and night may create condensation inside the electrical control cabinet, affecting long-term reliability.

Selecting the correct configuration before installation helps ensure stable operation throughout the winter season.

Syrison Low Temperature Package

For projects operating in temperatures as low as -35°C, Syrison upgrades several key components during manufacturing.

Aviation-Grade Low Temperature Hydraulic Oil

We replace the standard hydraulic oil with aviation-grade low-temperature hydraulic oil, helping maintain smooth hydraulic performance during extremely cold weather.

This improves lifting performance, reduces starting resistance and supports stable operation in severe winter conditions.

Cold-Resistant Hydraulic Hoses

Standard hydraulic hoses gradually lose flexibility at very low temperatures.

Our cold-resistant hydraulic hoses are designed for outdoor winter environments, providing better flexibility and longer service life.

Low Temperature Electrical Cables

For outdoor projects in Canada, Russia and other cold regions, standard electrical cables are upgraded to low-temperature resistant cables.

These cables remain flexible during winter and improve long-term electrical reliability.

Heated Electrical Control Cabinet

To reduce condensation inside the electrical control cabinet, the Low Temperature Package includes a cabinet heater.

Maintaining a stable internal temperature helps protect electrical components during cold weather and improves overall system reliability.

Indoor vs Outdoor Installation

Not every project requires the Low Temperature Package.

Many customers assume that if the outdoor temperature reaches -35°C, every parking lift must be modified.

In reality, the installation environment is equally important.

For indoor parking garages, the operating temperature is often much higher than the outdoor temperature, making the standard configuration suitable for many projects.

For outdoor installations, however, the parking lift is continuously exposed to snow, freezing wind, rain and ice.

For these applications, Syrison recommends the Low Temperature Package whenever winter temperatures regularly fall below -20°C.
